History
Founded in 1961, our Club has been serving Long Valley with a sense of pride and community spirit. We are a non-profit service organization involved in both fundraising and hands-on service activities to benefit our community. Over the years we have organized countless fundraising events and programs for our members, their families and area residents like our Casino Night, Trivia Night, Spelling Bees, a S.T.E.M. Fair for our middle-school children, Red Cross Blood Drives, Daddy-Daughter Date Night, a community cookbook, craft fairs, a Long Valley Monopoly board game, our Drink for Pink Breast Cancer Awareness event and many more. Our volunteer efforts throughout our rich history have allowed us to allocate many thousands of dollars to support critical local services including:
Schools
Police, Fire and EMS
Our local food pantry, Long Valley Community Assistance Program (LVCAP)
Washington Township K-12 PTO Programs
Community Senior Center
Scholarship programs for WMCHS graduates
Mental health programs
Homeless veterans through Operation Chill Out
Battered women’s shelters
Local families in need
And so much more
In 1989 we founded our C.A.R.E. program which offers after-school enrichment classes to all surrounding area children at very low tuition rates. We offer courses such as Dance, Yoga, Cooking, Sports Skills, Karate, S.T.E.M and more. Our C.A.R.E. program has been a great success and cherished by local working parents because it provides both valuable and fun learning opportunities for their children after school. The program’s steady growth and success have continually allowed us to donate an incredible amount of allocation dollars back into our community. See the C.A.R.E. section of our site for more information on this wonderful program for our young residents. In 2016 we founded our Racks Valley Boutique located at 20 Schooley’s Mountain Road in Long Valley which is a non-profit thrift boutique selling gently used women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories. We take in thousands of pounds of clothing donations each year which our team of volunteers carefully sorts through and selects the best items to display for sale. We started our store in the back of a local antique shop and have since moved locations twice to accommodate our growing and thriving boutique. We have worked hard over the past few years to build a loyal customer base and following and as a result, our donation dollars have grown exponentially over those years. Racks has quickly become our largest fundraiser and we look forward to its continued growth and success. See the Racks section of our site for more information on our award-winning boutique. The Long Valley Junior Women’s Club is a member of both the General Federation of Women’s Clubs as well as the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs.
